Trachemys dorbignyi

The South American slider is a late invader from North America. The species is very colorful and has a color variation from light yellow to dark orange

Range of color variation in babies

Left, regular phase;
right,
the "peacock phase" , an uncommon variation of color and pattern which probably inspired Freiberg's description of Trachemys dorbignyi brasiliensis. In this variation, most costal scutes have a ringlike pattern which reminds the eyelike feathers of a peacock's tail .

If you have any questions pertaining husbandry or breeding of the above species, I will be happy to help.
